Bothered by Fine Lines, Acne Scars, or Age Spots? Microdermabrasion Could Be the Solution

At Her Secret MedSpa in Mamaroneck, New York, our providers specialize in making the most of your beauty. You may think that your dull, wrinkled, or scarred skin needs an expensive series of complicated treatments to see improvement. In fact, we may be able to help you see immediate improvement with a minimally invasive procedure called microdermabrasion.

Microdermabrasion can address several common skin issues, including:

In other words, microdermabrasion can improve your skin in numerous ways. And if you have scarring, for example, you enjoy the benefit of a brighter overall complexion following microdermabrasion, in addition to diminishing the appearance of the scarring.

“Sanding” your skin

In the most basic terms, microdermabrasion is a method of sanding away the outer layer of your skin. That sounds alarming, but it’s not painful.

The outer layer of your skin has a buildup of dead cells, dirt, and other debris. This layer can be safely and painlessly removed, revealing fresh, healthy skin below. That’s exactly what microdermabrasion does.

We use a specially designed, diamond-tipped wand to perform the procedure. It gently exfoliates, removing that outer layer of skin as you relax in a reclining chair. The procedure usually takes about an hour.

Loving your results

You can see a difference in your skin immediately, but it continues to improve in the days following your treatment. The procedure stimulates your body to produce new collagen, and as that collagen forms, you can see your skin looking plumper and fuller, as well as brighter and more even in tone.

Protecting your skin

After we reveal your healthy, new skin through microdermabrasion, you must protect it scrupulously. As soon as the procedure is completed, we apply moisturizer and sunscreen.

You aren’t in pain post-procedure and can continue with your normal routine. Your skin may feel tight, and we advise you as to what types of products you should use in order to keep your skin properly hydrated and protected.

Enhancing your look

Before you have microdermabrasion, we thoroughly discuss your specific issues and goals. Our experts can recommend a treatment approach designed to help you reach or even exceed your goals.

Your treatment plan may include having microdermabrasion in tandem with another type of treatment, such as a photofacial. Often, we may suggest you have microdermabrasion every two weeks for a couple of months, then once a month thereafter in order to maintain your results.

If you’d like to learn more about microdermabrasion, schedule a consultation at Her Secret MedSpa. We’re happy to answer your questions, and you may be surprised by what’s possible!
